A Look at This Year’s Glamorous Grammys

The 55th Grammy Awards held on Sunday was truly music’s biggest night, with huge fashion, huge performances, and huge storylines from beginning to end. With a little something for everyone from beginning to end, there’s little doubt this was one of the best ceremonies in recent history!

Taylor Swift kicked the whole thing off when she opened with her hit “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Her circus-inspired set had the singer decked out in a blazing white ensemble including hot pants, jacket with tails, and a bejeweled top hat. It wasn’t the dancing bunnies, the flame-thrower, or even the stilt performers that sole the show though; it was when Taylor blatantly dissed her recent ex, Harry Styles in the show. During the narrative in the song, Taylor put on an exaggerated British accent, saying that when he professed his love (again) she replied that she was “busy opening the Grammys.”

Before taking on her circus trainer outfit, Taylor wore a gorgeous white J. Mendel gown on the red carpet, which was very much in keeping with her sexy, more mature look she’s been donning lately. While the song Taylor performed got her nominated for “Record of the Year,” that award actually went to Gotye’s “Somebody that I Used to Know.”

Taylor’s rumored rival, Carrie Underwood, also made news on the red carpet, but not for her elegant strapless Robert Cavalli gown. Rather, it was the $31 million worth in jewels that walked down the carpet with her that had all eyes on her. That it turned out, was just a precursor for what was yet to come in the evening. When Carrie took the stage to perform her two hit singles, “Two Black Cadillacs” and “Blown Away,” her shimmery silver ball gown served as a screen from which digital images were projected — at one point turning her into a monarch butterfly!

Rihanna sent tongues wagging throughout the night as well. Showing up on the red carpet in a show-stopping red Azzedine Alaia gown, it was her snuggling up to boyfriend Chris Brown that had everyone really talking. While the two definitely looked cozier than most would expect four years after RiRi was beaten by him, she also seemed to have made another statement when she took to the stage to perform “Stay.” While she had previously been photographed wearing numerous rings, for the performance she left just one on — a diamond band around the ring finger of her left hand. That has everyone guessing that the two are now engaged.

All of this, not to mention J. Lo’s Anthony Vaccarello dress that pushed the Grammys dress code to its limits, and Katy Perry’s mint-colored cleavage-exposing dress that actually did! Were there any of your favorite moments that we missed? What did you think was most glamorous about this year’s Grammys?

Beyonce Headlines Star Studded Super Bowl Halftime Show

Beyonce went into her Super Bowl halftime show last night on the heels of backlash from lip-synching the national anthem during the Presidential Inauguration; and amid rumors that her former band, Destiny’s Child, would be joining her on-stage. Throughout her performance, she silenced all the wagging tongues, putting on a simply electric show that included many surprises along the way.

Beyonce came on-stage in what can only be described as in full diva form, belting out some of her biggest hits including “Love on Top,” “Halo,” and “Crazy in Love.” When she told fans to “reach your hands to me,” because she “needed to feel the energy,” she seemed to reach out to every single person in the Superdome — not a simple task when it’s filled to capacity. And as she lay on the ground and spun around, she also gave a show only for fans at home, as it was best appreciated from an aerial view.

But it was after she had filled the stage with her dynamic outfit, wave-a-licious hair, and huge voice, that the rumored guest stars finally appeared on stage. Suddenly from out of nowhere appeared the other members of Destiny’s Child — Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams — to put on what seemed like an entirely different show. But beautifully combined with the first.

Michelle and Kelly helped Beyonce out with some of their biggest band hits, including “Bootylicious” and “Independent Women.” For the grand finale, they also lent a hand to Beyonce with one of her other biggest hits, “Single Ladies.”

Throughout this last number, it seemed as though Beyonce was trying to send a specific message, choosing to dance in fine choreographed style instead of chiming in with the background music. When she did bring the mic back to her, she belted out the melody in fine gritty, grimy style that was clearly authentic — and live.

And if all of that wasn’t enough, Beyonce had one more surprise in store for fans. Right after her halftime show, she announced that she’s heading out on the “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.” The tour includes a slew of dates around Europe and North America, and you can get a full listing of current dates on TicketSupply.com.

New Kids Release First Song from New Album

Teasing fans last week with the news that they were going on tour this summer, and bringing some pretty serious boy band names with them, the New Kids on the Block didn’t stop there. At the same time they announced that they would also be releasing a new album and on Friday, they let us hear the first notes from that album with a new song.

After hearing that the song’s title is “Remix (I Like The,)” you might think that it’s about the band’s reunion, and coming back together after two long hiatuses. However, the song is actually about a girl that’s a bit of an ugly duckling — that is, until she gets a “remix” and suddenly people are liking “the new you.”

The track has a good beat and, with its sing-along melody, it won’t be long before it’s burning up dance clubs. Those who like Bruno Mars will love the soulful feel of this record, and it’s this same tempo that makes the track feel much more adult contemporary than the pop bubble gum variety they were formerly known for. And, for those of you who have been missing those fab five voices, each Kid has got his own solo within “Remix,” so there are plenty of swoon opportunities (or just chances to chime in.)

Can’t wait anymore? Want to hear for yourself? Check out “Remix (I Like The)” right here; and then tell us if you like it!

Some of the Biggest Acts to be at Taste of Country Festival

Why is it that whenever people think of country music they always think it has to be, well, in the country? Or in some remote town located only in the deep south? Northerners like to get down with their cowboy hats and boots too, and that’s just what Townsquare Media Group and Chet-5 Festivals was thinking when they created the Taste of Country festival.

This festival will still be in a small town, being held at the Hunter Mountain Resort in Hunter, New York on June 13 — June 15. But it’s being touted as the “Northeast’s first large-scale country music festival,” and there will be some huge names there to make it not just the first, but also the best.

Huge names like Lady Antebellum, Willie Nelson & Family, and Trace Adkins will be headlining the event, while many supporting acts will also be on hand. Those will be comprised of Hunter Hayes, Billy Currington, Montgomery Gentry, Joe Nichols, Blackberry Smoke, Justin Moore, and Dustin Lynch, to name just a few.

There’s been some confusion revolving around Lady Antebellum and whether or not they’ll actually appear to perform after cancelling many other gigs due to Hillary Scott’s pregnancy. However, Taste of Country has announced that this is their last show before taking their needed time off.

The weekend prior to the country festival, the location will also be used for the annual Mountain Jam, a festival of big rock acts that come to the area to put on a great show. And organizers think that this second event will just help make this one of the best times in music.

“We are very excited about our partnership with the Townsquare Media Group,” said Gary Chetkof of Chet-5 Festivals. “Combining our experience producing the Mountain Jam Festival along with Townsquare Media Group’s assets makes for a powerful partnership that will produce a world-class country music event for many years to come.”

New Kids, Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees Partner Up for Tour this Summer

The New Kids spent last summer travelling around with the Backstreet Boys on the NKOTBSB tour and now, they’re back at it again. While BSB won’t be joining the 80s boy band this time around, they’ve amped up the excitement factor by bringing back not just one band from that time so long ago, but two! This time, both 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men will be joining Donnie, Jordan, Joe, Jonathan, and Danny on one of the biggest tours this summer.

The tour is appropriately being called “The Package,” and Boyz II Men and 98 Degrees will be coming along as the supporting acts. The tour begins on May 31 in Uncasville, Connecticut. From there the Kids and their crew will travel around to some of the biggest cities in North America including Boston, the hometown of each of the New Kids; Pittsburgh; Washington, DC; Orlando; Los Angeles; Dallas; and San Jose. With a total of 28 dates in all, the tour will wrap on July 13 in Minneapolis at the Target Center. For a full listing of dates and venues, you can check out New Kids On The Block Tickets page on TicketSupply.com.

Few bands can come back from a 15-year hiatus and still be welcomed so eagerly by their fans. The New Kids have done just that and in fact, they say that the time off was actually for their young fans.

“They needed time to have families and husbands and children and get jobs and live their lives,” Donnie Wahlberg said in a statement. “We created an outlet for them to feel good about themselves and tap into that youthfulness that had been put to bed for a long time. You may be 40, but the euphoria of it makes you feel 14 again.”

The band will undoubtedly play some of their biggest hits that fans can still sing along to, including The Right Stuff and Hangin’ Tough, but they’ll be bringing new tracks along with them from their album 10, which will be released in April of this year.

If you want to feel like you’re 14 again, get your tickets today! Presales for members of Block Nation go on sale today!

Would you go See Britney Spears in Vegas?

Britney Spears has a lot of time on her hands these days and it sounds like she’s looking to fill up her schedule some. The question is, is she going to record another album or take up a residency in Las Vegas? Or maybe fans will get really lucky, and she’ll do both!

It was first reported by TMZ that Brit is allegedly the subject of a bidding war between two big hotel chains in Las Vegas; and that she’ll likely take up a residency at Caesar’s Palace.

“The deal is a go,” said an unknown insider of the negotiations. “There are several stipulations that could throw a monkey wrench in the deal, but it’s basically done.”

If it is a done deal, it’s still unknown as to how often Spears will perform, and if it will stop with her work onstage. Some properties require stars to also put in appearances in their hotel while putting on shows; and reportedly it’s still being determined whether she’ll perform every night. Celine Dion currently performs 70 nights a year at Caesars Palace, and makes a whopping $100 million doing it. Spears, thought to bring in bigger crowds than Dion, is expected to make even more than that.

But the big question is, are these rumors true? While the timing might be right with Spears recently leaving The X Factor, Spears also indicated that she was interested in returning to the studio, and the stage.

“I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season,” Spears said in a statement earlier this week. “I am so proud of my teens but it’s time for me to get back in the studio. Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most.”

With her last studio release, Femme Fatale, being released nearly two years ago, fans are sure eager to hear something new and hopefully it’s Britney Spears Las Vegas! And from the sounds of it, they’re going to get it one way or another!

One Direction kicks off Their World Tour in February

English-Irish boy band, One Direction, kicks of their “One Direction 2013” world tour this coming February 23, in London’s O2 Arena. Originally billed as the UK & Ireland Tour, the concert has since been expanded to include shows in both North America and Australasia after the bands meteoric rise to success.

The commercial success, sold out shows, and an extremely high demand for more tickets has led the tour to expand to over 100 shows. More than 300,000 tickets sold within a day of being released for sale, and sales totaling over $15 million in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Signed to Syco Records after an impressive third place finish on the British TV show The X Factor, One Direction has become a prominent group in mainstream pop music, breaking records and topping the music charts in nearly every major market the world over. One Direction has been described as having sparked a renewed interest in boy bands as part of the so-called “New British Invasion” in the United States. Selling 15 million records across the globe, as well as garnering a BRIT award and 3 MTV Video Music awards, they have been declared Billboard’s “Top New Artist” of 2012.

One Direction’s unique style of music has been influenced by dance, pop, rock, and electro-pop music, which has both excited fans and electrified critics. Their live shows highlight the musicianship and vocal prowess of the band, leaving audiences entertained and enthusiastic about future releases and shows from the band.
The band features a wholesome, clean-cut image that has revitalized and reignited the boy band genre. Each member is known for his own distinguishing features, such as Horan being the “cute one”, and Styles being the “charmer”. For the most part, however, they come across as typical teenage boys; goofy and comical, posting to YouTube and partying at shows and banquets. One Direction has it all: The looks, the musical ability, and the catchy songs, that make their style and brand of entertainment a sure hit with teens around the world.

To see more of what this record-breaking new band is all about, grab tickets for one of their shows today and prepare for a night of fun and music with One Direction!

Def Leppard to Play “Viva Hysteria!” in Vegas

Many Def Leppard fans haven’t heard the band’s album Hysteria since it was released in 1987, but now they’ll have a chance to hear it in its entirety — and they’ll be able to see it all happen live too. Because as of March 22nd, Def Leppard is taking the show to Las Vegas, where they’ll take up residency at The Joint at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel so that they can present Viva Hysteria! live!

The show will be comprised of two sets, created to each give fans a taste of what they’ve been missing for the past couple of decades. During the first set they’ll tease audiences with songs from other, non-Hysteria albums, although they’re reluctant to give up any details on just what songs those will be.

The second set however, will be what people are really coming to see, even if it isn’t going to be full of one surprise after another. Of course that set will include some of the biggest Hysteria songs including “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Love Bites,” and “Animal,” along with the other lesser-known songs from the album. But in addition to taking up a residency in Sin City, there’s more for the band to get excited about, too.

Joe Elliott, the band’s frontman, says that he believes the band will have more time together, seeing as how they’ll be playing for three days before taking a break for four days. And that small break may allow them to make new music!

“I don’t know if we’ll do an album,” he told Rolling Stone. “Maybe the way to go is put one or two tracks out at a time and see how it goes. Almost like a 7-inch single. We’ve got a golden opportunity. We’ve got ample opportunity to look each other square in the eye and say ‘what you got?’ We’re back to that rehearsal-room vibe.”

Beyonce and Alicia Keys to Perform at Super Bowl

The only thing that is perhaps more anxiously awaited for than the actual Super Bowl itself is the Super Bowl halftime. If you don’t believe us, consider that while 116 million watched Madonna during last year’s Super Bowl, but only 111.3 million watched the actual game. So, what can you expect from this year’s halftime?

Beyonce has been promoted as the biggest star of the halftime show this year, but she’s bringing back some dynamite ladies with her. Yes, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams will take the stage with Beyonce, marking the day that Destiny’s Child came back! And in fine form, too. They won’t be relying on tired old classics to keep audiences amused (although you can bet that some of their biggest hits will be in there, too.) But they’ve also recently released “Nuclear,” which they’re planning on debuting live at the Super Bowl.

But all of that on-stage action actually comes after another big act will have already taken the stage. That would be Alicia Keys, who will be taking on the other biggest musical job of the day – delivering the national anthem. But is there a chance that this is going to be one of “those” anthems, that leaves us all talking for weeks afterwards? Well, Keys may not mess up the words to the biggest song in the country, but she is planning on putting her own spin on it.

“Oh my goodness, being able to do the national anthem and actually set the whole game off is a dream come true! It’s really exciting,” gushed the singer to MTV. “It’s a historical moment that day, so I’m looking forward to really doing it in my style and my way, and I’m looking forward to making it really great.”

Both Alicia and Beyonce have both already gone down in the history books, and both just this past week. While Beyonce belted out a gorgeous “Star Spangled Banner” at President Obama’s inauguration, Keys later did a rendition of her song, “Girl on Fire,” to which she changed the words to “Obama’s on Fire.”
