Pearl Jam & U2 Go to the Movies at the Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival is always a place for the stars to gather and for some of the biggest movies to get their big premiere. But this September, the event brings even more excitement as it opens with the explosive U2 documentary and continues with an exclusive look behind the scenes of one of the founding bands of alternative rock, Pearl Jam.

When TIFF opens with the U2 documentary From the Sky Down on September 8, fans will get to see an in-depth examination of the band’s release of their album Achtung, Baby, and the impact it had on the band, their business, and the world. The film was directed by Davis Guggenheim, who is most noted for also directing An Inconvenient Truth. This documentary is also the first one in 38 years to open TIFF.

Two days later Pearl Jam fans will be able to gather to see the premiere of Pearl Jam Twenty, another documentary that takes you behind-the-scenes of the band’s formation, their breakup, and their reunion, for the first time ever. So much has already been talked about in regards to this film that it even has a deal to run as a television series after running at the Festival.

With documentaries from two of the most groundbreaking bands in music, this year’s Toronto International Film Festival is one of the most anticipated events yet!
