Who’s Playing Where New Year’s Eve 2012

If you still don’t have plans for New Year’s Eve 2011, you know there are always three places you can go — Times Square; Niagara Falls, Canada; and Las Vegas. All three host a multitude of talented performers every single New Year’s Eve, and this year is no different. Here’s a list of who’s playing in which of the three biggest NYE locations on the planet.

From Dick Clark to Ryan Seacrest, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” has always been the most watched, and one of the most-attended, New Year’s Eve parties. The lineup for this year is huge, including acts such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Pitbull and Hot Chelle Rae. Of course, the raising and subsequent dropping of the ball are also going to be some of the most anticipated highlights of the night, but people will probably walk away talking about the guest that will perform “Imagine” just as the clock strikes midnight — that performer has not yet been announced.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood of Niagara Falls, Canada to bring in the New Year, you might want to stop by Clifton Hill for a huge lineup of acts for the yearly (and free!) New Year’s event held with the majestic Falls as a backdrop. This year the show begins with some local talent by Stephanie McIlroy followed by The Sheepdogs. Then, the big names take over when Our Lady Peace takes the stage before Simple Plan closes out the show.

On any given night in Las Vegas you can find something to do, but even The Strip holds its own kind of special magic on New Year’s Eve. Bruno Mars is set to perform at The Bellagio, while Celine Dion continues her show at Caesars Palace. Also at Caesars Palace is Chris Brown, who’s hosting his own NYE show. And of course, it’s Vegas so if none of those tickle your fancy, walk into just about any building and you’ll be sure to find something going on!

If you didn’t have New Year’s Eve plans before now, head to any of these huge cities known for their huge NYE parties. You might just find yourself with a new tradition!

The Beach Boys Have a New Album, and Tour, Coming Soon!

The Beach Boys are not only the iconic faces of pop music beginnings; they are also a band that’s got some bad blood and a long history between them. So when they say that they’re getting back together for a reunion, that’s big news! So big in fact, that the Beach Boys aren’t just keeping it to a reunion performance or show like they have in the past — they’ve got a whole new album coming out and a world tour to celebrate!

The album will be the band’s 30th studio album and the title of it has not been released, but we do know that it will be released sometime in 2012 and that the Beach Boys will be playing some of the new material on their world tour. That tour begins on April 27 at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in Louisiana, so it’s thought that the album will at least be out a few weeks before then.

But fans might not even have to wait that long until they get to hear some new Beach Boys’ tunes — they’re also set to perform at the Grammy Awards in February in honor of the band’s 50th anniversary.

All the current Beach Boys news was revealed on the band’s official website, with co-founding member Brian Wilson also saying in a later statement, “This anniversary is special to me because I miss the boys, and it will be a thrill for me to make a new record and be on stage with them again.” Mighty words for Wilson, as a feud between he and his cousin, Mike Love, was one of the reasons for the initial breakup of the band. They’ll both be along for the tour along with co-founder Al Jardine. Bruce Johnston and David Marks, both who joined the band later, will also be there when the Beach Boys tour in 2012.

Donald Trump Takes Credit for Lady Gaga’s Success

There are a few people in this world that don’t like Donald Trump and now, you can probably add Lady Gaga to the list.

It was in July 2008 when Lady Gaga appeared at the Miss Universe pageant, and it’s this concert performance that The Donald thinks can be attributed to Gaga’s entire career. As he writes in his book, Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again, Trump writes, “maybe she became a star because I put her on the Miss Universe Pageant. It’s very possible, who knows what would have happened without it, because she caused a sensation. I really believe I had at least something to do with it.”

Really? Fans (and the general public) seem to believe that Lady Gaga causes a stir wherever she goes, and that she most likely would have reached stardom regardless of whether or not she performed at the pageant. And, let’s not forget that the song had already been released for three months before the pageant took place. And it’s not like Gaga saw a huge overnight jump in stardom either, after the pageant was over. While “Just Dance,” (the song performed during the Pageant,) was a hit during the summer of 2008, it didn’t reach #1 status on the Billboard charts until January of 2009. So it’s hard to say that Trump is solely responsible.

But who knows? Donald Trump has had a hand in the success of many, so maybe this one appearance by Lady Gaga really did something for her fame. And it’s not like Trump is taking credit for every single thing that Lady Gaga has done. He’s simply saying that he may have been part of her rise to the top. Is he right?

The Red Hot Chili Peppers Are Much Hotter in Person!

The year 1983 was a good year for entertainment. Return of the Jedi was out in theaters, The A-team premiered on TV, and one of the greatest bands ever was formed. We are talking of course about the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is a band that is hard to classify, as their style dips into a lot of musical types. Punk, funk, hip-hop, and psychedelic all are mixed with the sound of rock. The main faces in the band are vocalist Anthony Kiedis and bassist Michael Balzary, who is better known as Flea, as well as drummer Chad Smith. Guitarists seem to be consistent in rotation, but the current band member is Josh Klinghoffer.

It has been quite a crazy ride for these fun guys from California. Thus far, the band has won seven Grammy Awards and has sold well over 70 million albums! Their latest album “I’m With You” was recently nominated for a Grammy Award. Could this make eight? Fans will find out when the awards show is held in February.

Though there were a few albums prior, “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” is the album that finally rocketed the Red Hot Chili Peppers into fame. The track “Give it Away” won a Grammy, and the album was listed in the 500 greatest albums of all time in Rolling Stone. The album “One Hot Minute” was next in line, but didn’t get the reaction that Blood Sugar had. The album “Californication” came out in 1999 and was one of the band’s deepest works yet, as it incorporated various sexual innuendos into the lyrics but also discussed themes such as death, suicide, drugs, globalization, travel and of course, the very sunny California state.

The latest album is I’m With You and it has received many positive reviews, with notes stating that this is a new beginning for the band. Fans in person can expect a compilation of new and old hits in concert. Why not come enjoy this award-winning, history-making band in person? Give it away, Give it away, Give it away now for these pioneers of psychedelic rock!

There is Good News for Creed Fans in 2012

Creed was a band that started out strong, and over time began to receive a lot of controversy, which divided music lovers. However, Creed remains one of the most popular touring bands and for long time Creed lovers there may be some positive news in the near future!

Creed formed in 1995 in Florida, and it didn’t take long for them to reach the top. In the late 1990s, the band had multi-platinum albums, with 28 million records sold in the United States alone. They are the 9th best selling artist in the 2000s period. Public opinion is a fickle thing, however, as by the year 2004 a reader’s poll in Guitar World had ranked them second worst band. How is that possible?

The years 1997 and 1998 were the best for Creed. Their debut album My Own Prison was released and the fan count began rising. The title song along with three other hits all reached #1 on the Billboard charts. The year 1998 saw the band awarded Rock Artist of the Year by Billboard Music Awards. Things didn’t slow down with their second album’s release Human Clay. Hits included “Higher”, “With Arms Wide Open” and more, with concerts selling out. With seven hit singles under their belt, they won a Grammy Award in 2001 for “With Arms Wide Open”.

When you are feeling on top of the world, your ego can get a little inflated as it did for the band’s bassist Brian Marshall who, in a radio interview, criticized the much beloved Pearl Jam. Fans were not happy, and Marshall soon left the band on so-called “friendly terms”. Around the same time, Limp Bizkit lead singer Fred Durst insulted the band, which led to Scott Stapp proposing a boxing match (which nothing ever came of). Many people began labeling Creed as a Christian rock band due to its spiritual lyrics, which turned away some fans.

The next albums did not sell as well, and tour delays angered many. The lead singer’s personal “demons” began taking their toll leading to some rather bizarre incidents on stage. By 2004, the band had disbanded.

However, now at the end of 2011 and embarking upon a new year, there is hope on the horizon. The year 2012 is going to be a great year for a newly reunited Creed with Scott Stapp, who is back on board. A fifth album and new tour are scheduled. Scott Stapp is looking well, and the band is hopeful. Get your Creed tickets and be there to see them perform live in your hometown!

Martina McBride Goes All the Way Up to 11

Martina McBride really summed herself up when she belted out the song “I’m Little but I’m Loud!” at a mere seven years of age.  The petite framed country singer has a mighty big voice that is rivaled by very few in the music industry today, and she has plenty of Grammy nominations and a good number of Academy of Country Music award wins to prove it.  She is even tied with the great Reba McEntire for the most wins of the Country Music Association’s “Female Vocalist of the Year” award!

McBride is best known for her heart wrenching country ballets.  “Independence Day” tells the story of a woman suffering from an abusive husband, who finds her own type of independence through a fire.  The lyrics plainly state, “Now I ain’t sayin’ it’s right or it’s wrong, but maybe it’s the only way,” which leaves listeners on their own to answer that tough question.  “A Broken Wing” and “Concrete Angel” are two more powerful, highly emotional hits.  These songs dealing with tough issues combined with Martina’s strong vocals are sure to leave you in awe.

McBride has a new album out for 2011, which was released October 11th, which is her eleventh album and features 11 tracks.  It is rightfully titled “Eleven”.  Big tracks on the new album are “I’m Gonna Love You Through It”, which is a song of hope about a woman battling cancer and “Teenage Daughters”, of which Martina is no stranger to.

The album is already getting some high praise from critics and audiences alike.  Martina McBride recently kicked off her “Eleven Across America” tour.  She stopped in 11 cities total.  She used this tour as a way to support the fight against breast cancer, by riding a “pink express” and having all the breast cancer survivors she met sign a banner that was flown at the last stop on the tour, the Empire State Building.

Be sure not to miss this country star when she stops at a city near you.  Martina McBride tickets, where she will be belting out her new singles, as well as everyone’s old favorites, are on sale right now!

Prince Goes to Canada on New Tour

He took his “Welcome 2 America Tour” on the road just about one year ago, and now Prince is looking to extend the fun — and bring it to some new fans — with his “Welcome 2 Canada Tour,” which will begin later this month at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on November 25 — 26.

The tour is fittingly named, as it will take Prince and his band, The New Power Generation, around different stops in Canada — 11 to be exact. Those stops though, will take him from coast to coast. The tour starts in Toronto and from there, Prince goes to the Maritimes so he can perform in Halifax. On his way back to the West coast, Prince will also make pit stops in Montreal, London, Winnipeg, and the nation’s capital, Ottawa. Out west he’ll visit major cities such as Saskatoon, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Victoria.

The tour is said to be very similar to the “Welcome 2 America” tour, with Prince performing some classic songs such as “Cream,” “Purple Rain” and “Raspberry Beret.” And, if you want to catch “Kiss,” perhaps Prince’s most notable songs, you’ll have to wait until the encore. It’s then that the song is generally performed, and you may even have to wait until the second encore — something that Prince loves to give his fans.

Tickets for the “Welcome 2 Canada Tour” go on sale this Friday and you can get them in a wide range of $25 Canadian dollars to $195 Canadian. And, to see if His Royal Badness is going to be in your hometown, you can find a full listing of Prince Tickets here.

Lady Antebellum Announces Date For Leg 2 Of “Own the Night” Tour

Lady Antebellum started off as a little country trio, and now they’re unstoppable! Having just begun the first leg of their “Own the Night” tour last month, they’ll just be coming off it at the end of December before they start the new leg. That leg, the group has just announced, will begin on January 27 when they play in Tulsa and will extend all the way through June 29 when they’ll wrap it up in Indianapolis, Indiana. Not only does this leg take them all over North America, there’s a lot for fans to be excited about when it comes down to the actual shows.

When Lady Antebellum first started promoting the “Own the Night World Tour 2012,” they showcased the first leg as being all about owning it — yourself, the night, the show — whatever it was. When talking about the first set of shows, Dave Haywood of the band said, “Be confident, live in the moment and enjoy the experiences you’re going through — own them.”

This leg however, brings even more and lets you not only own your experiences but will bring those experiences even closer. Because this time, Lady Antebellum has said that the shows will bring even more intimacy and a chance for fans to really get up close with the band during the show. They haven’t given up just what exactly that means, but it’s certain to be a chance of a lifetime for fans. And with this leg taking them into Canada for more than just a couple shows, there’s certainly more chances for even more fans to see this hit country group live! Full tour dates are listed on our Lady Antelbellum ticket page, although venues are not yet listed.

Embrace the Weird by Attending a Weird Al Concert in Person!

Everyone knows who Weird Al is thanks to his wildly successful parody songs like “Eat It”, “I’m Fat” or even more recent hits like “White & Nerdy.” Why even rapper Chamillionaire of “Ridin’ Dirty” admitted that sometimes fans credit him with making fun of Weird Al’s version! That’s when you know you’ve made it…When your parody song is a comparable hit to the original!

Of course, Weird Al only pokes fun at the musicians he likes and who have already achieved celebrity because of their hit albums. So the musicians he parodies take just as much pride in the farce as does Weird Al. Whether he’s performing classic spoofs like “Smells Like Nirvana” or “Achy Breaky Song” or debuting something new like his hilarious Lady Gaga parody, “Perform This Way,” in which he struts and sings in a bikini. Oh yeah, you know you’ve been waiting for that image.

However, don’t get too excited, all you chubby-guy chasers out there. Many of the shots of the music video you see are actually CGI-created, imposing Weird Al’s head on another singer’s body. Of course, there’s no faking it live and in person, so that’s reason #50 to come see Weird Al in concert. Weird Al is not only a singer, a composer and mock lyricist, but also a performer. He has performed over 1,000 live shows and actually won three Grammy Awards and recorded six platinum records in the U.S.

Weird Al’s concerts include many past hits, as well as previews of his newest songs from the album Alpocalypse. In his latest album, he parodies everyone from Lady Gaga (in “Polka Face” and “Perform This Way”) to Weezer, The White Stripes, The Doors, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars and even Queen.

For such a funny guy, it’s all the more surprising that Weird Al always gets permission and a blessing from the singers he parodies. Though he is protected by satire law, he believes it is vital to maintain relationships with popular artists and singers. No wonder so many high profile musicians have admitted to being a Weird Al fan. His parodies are not critical but are considered a “badge of honor” in the music industry. Get your Weird Al tickets and come see him in person!

Garth Brooks Announces More Vegas Dates

When he first retired in 2001, we all knew that Garth Brooks wouldn’t be able to stay out of the spotlight for too long. It did take a full 8 years but in 2009 Garth started playing regular gigs at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. That contract was for 5 years, with Brooks playing at the theater 15 weekends out of the year, 4 shows each weekend. To fill in those 50 shows, Garth has been announcing them little at a time, and the newest dates have just been announced!

The dates that Garth had announced previously were: October 7-8; October 21-22; and November 4-5. Show times for these performances are at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

In addition to those, Garth has just announced the new dates of: December 2-3; January 5-7; January 27-28; and February 17-18. These shows all begin at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. respectively, with the exception of January 5’s show that begins at 8 p.m.

Garth Brooks is not only one of the founding fathers of country music, he also puts on a show like no other! Ever since his tenure at the Wynn Las Vegas began, he’s been dazzling sold-out crowds and reminding us why country music just wouldn’t be the same without him. Fans rave about how Garth can play to the entire crowd while two-stepping across the stage during his dance numbers, and then slow it down for a crooner with his most memorable soulful songs — all for a night you’ll never forget
