The Smashing Pumpkins have been busy traveling the world ever since their release of their ninth studio album, Oceania, in June this year. Now they’ve just announced that they’ve added a new leg to the tour, and it’s going to take them all over North America!
Although all dates and venues have not been set, it is known that the North American tour will kick off in Mexico on September 22; and it will be in Mexico that the band will play as well the next night in Monterrey, Mexico. From there the band will travel to Canada, first playing in Winnipeg on October 2. While there, they’ll also hit some of the major stops including Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
They won’t stop there, though. The Pumpkins will land in the States on October 16 where they’ll play in Denver before moving on to St. Louis, San Francisco, Chicago, and Detroit. Other American cities are said to be in the works, but have not yet been confirmed. Tickets for most shows are on sale now but for a full listing of venues, dates, and pre-sales, you can find them on the Pumpkins’ official website here.
The makeup of the Pumpkins has changed considerably over the years. Billy Corgan who formed the group over two decades ago has come back after a solo career, but he’s the only original member still there. Now in place of Melissa Auf der Maur is Nicole Fiorentino; instead of James Iha you’ll find Jeff Schroeder on rhythm guitar; and now Mike Byrne, not Jimmy Chamberlin, is on drums and percussion.
Having been together for years now though, the current four members have proven they have all the magic that makes the Pumpkins who they are. So get your tickets today!
