Martina McBride has Special Concert Plans for the Holidays
Martina McBride is currently in Switzerland on her “One Night” tour, but she’s about to come back to the States! When she does, she’ll spend the next month and a half touring the United States on that same tour, before she takes a break for just a couple of weeks before her holiday tour begins!
It will be on September 28 that Martina will return to a sell-out crowd in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee to continue “One Night.” From there she’ll be traveling around the States exclusively until November 8 when she wraps it all up in Carmel, Indiana. She won’t take too long to rest though, because the holidays are coming up; and they’re Martina’s favorite time of year!
“The Christmas season is by far the McBride family’s favorite time of year,” she says. “Holiday music is some of my most favorite to sing and it reminds me of the memories I have growing up that I’ve shared with my daughters. I have compiled all my favorite Christmas songs and will package them together in a fun concert for all.”
To celebrate that her “Joy of Christmas” tour will begin on November 23 in Atlanta, Georgia; and this tour will keep her largely in the United States as well. With one stop in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on December 6, all other venues are in major American cities. Those include Springfield, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City to name a few. With twelve stops in total, Martina’s holiday tour will wrap up in Chicago, Illinois on December 21.
Nas and Lauryn Hill Team Up for 10-Date Tour
Are you ready to see two of the biggest names in hip hop? If so, you better get your tickets fast! Nas and Lauryn Hill are gearing up for a tour together, but it’s only going to be for 10 shows.
The tour is being called “Life is Good/Black Rage,” and it’s a combination of the projects both artists currently have going. While Nas’ current record is called Life is Good, Lauryn Hill’s single is called Black Rage. But it’s more than just slapping together the title of a record and the name of a song. Nas’ Life is Good album is about just that — a good life, full of love and happiness. Hill’s single on the other hand, is to shine a spotlight on the “derivative effects of racial inequity and abuse.” Call it ironic, or just both sides of the world. It’s how they came up with the tour name, and it’s quite fitting.
The tour starts on October 29 in Dallas and it will run until November 19. After Dallas they’ll be heading to Oakland, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Denver, and Utah. For a full listing of dates, you can check them all out on the NAS and Lauryn Hill tickets page.
Tickets go on sale today for this incredible hip hop duo tour and you better get yours fast because these won’t last for long!
Paul McCartney to Tour North America
It started with an announcement that Paul McCartney was going to Edmonton for an event that was going to “put the city on the entertainment map.” Now, that one city has been expanded to a tour that includes four stops in total; and a whole lot of music from a whole lot of decades along the way.
McCartney is currently entertaining fans across the world with his “On the Run” tour. And though when he’s in North America it’s only for four dates, he’s tried to spread it out to give as many fans as possible a chance to see the show. McCartney’s first stop will be at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on November 11; with a stop in Houston at the Minute Maid Park on November 14. On November 25 McCartney heads up to Vancouver; and then he’s off to put Edmonton on the map the following evening.
The shows are bound to be a huge success and bring fans everything that they’re most hopeful to hear. “On the Run” is really the best of Paul McCartney. A press release for the show announced that “long-time McCartney fans can expect to hear Beatles tunes, Wings hits, and some solos.”
Paul McCartney shows always sell out fast, but these four are going to be even hotter and tickets are going to go even faster. Pre-sales sold out within minutes; mostly due to the fact that resellers purchased them to sell on auction sites. There aren’t many left due to that, and tickets officially go on sale later today.
No Doubt You Must See No Doubt This Season!
No Doubt was a happening 90’s band that was led by Gwen Stefani. One of their biggest hits “Don’t Speak” spent an astonishing 16 weeks on the Hot 100. Of course, as these things go, Gwen decided she wanted a solo career, and off she went to pursue it. She did have a number of hits herself, including “Hollaback Girl” with the famous “b-a-n-a-n-a-s” line. Most No Doubt fans assumed that was it for the original band. Well sigh no longer! No Doubt is back together and getting ready to tour!
The good news is that No Doubt is releasing their brand new album called “Push and Shove” on September 25, 2012. This will be the bands 6th album together, and fans can’t wait to see what they have come up with after the long hiatus. Will their sound be the same, has it changed over time? Their first single entitled “Settle Down” was released to fans on July 16th and hit 34 on the billboard charts.
Fans, it is time to be on the lookout for your tickets. Currently the band is scheduled to play the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 21st with Rihanna, Usher and other music acts. Then from November 24th to December 4th the band will be performing live at the Gibson Amphitheatre at the Universal City walk in California. New dates for their tour promoting the new album are also sure to be released soon.
Take a step back and hear your old No Doubt favorites like “Spiderwebs”, “It’s My Life”, “Ex-Girlfriend”, “Underneath It All”, and “Just a Girl” or your personal favorite song off their old albums. You’ll also be one of the first to hear all of the bands newest songs live and in person. Track names are currently listed as “Looking Hot”, “Gravity” “Heaven”, “Dreaming the Same Dream” and more.
The hot lead singer Gwen Stefani, as well as guitarist Tom Dumont, and Tony Kanal and Adrian Young will all be there. Get your tickets for the Las Vegas or California show now, and keep an eye out for dates for their new tour to be announced soon.
Shows to Watch for in New York This Month
Artists are trying to cram all their shows in before the season’s over, and many of the biggest stars are putting on huge shows this month. Here are just a few that you can’t miss.
Jay-Z
Jay-Z will be taking up residence at Barclays Center the last week of September. While there he’ll play four nights from September 29 – October 1. Taking off a day to rest in between, he’ll pick the show back up on October 3 and play until October 5.
Barbara Streisand
Also at Barclay’s Center is the iconic Barbara Streisand, playing there from October 11 to October 13. Not having a solo performance there since she was 7 years of age; and not having toured since 2007, there’s no word yet on what she plans to perform. But it’s Barbara; and she’s going to be spectacular.
Madonna
Taking on the huge world-renowned stage of Madison Square Gardens is Madonna — setting up her stage there on November 12. This will be part of her “MDNA” concert and from the rave reviews the tour’s received so far, she’s bound to blow New York fans away.
The Who
Taking on the Barclay Center, MSG and the Prudential Center, The Who will be putting on a show that’s one of a kind. On November 14 at the Barclays Center they’ll perform their entire sixth album, “Quadrophenia” for fans. They’ll then take the act to MSG on December 5, and do it all over again on December 6 at the Prudential.
New York is always a place of great performances and fantastic shows, and these are just a few that are going on this month. Make sure you catch at least one!
Just in Time for Halloween, it’s the Smashing Pumpkins!
The Smashing Pumpkins have been busy traveling the world ever since their release of their ninth studio album, Oceania, in June this year. Now they’ve just announced that they’ve added a new leg to the tour, and it’s going to take them all over North America!
Although all dates and venues have not been set, it is known that the North American tour will kick off in Mexico on September 22; and it will be in Mexico that the band will play as well the next night in Monterrey, Mexico. From there the band will travel to Canada, first playing in Winnipeg on October 2. While there, they’ll also hit some of the major stops including Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
They won’t stop there, though. The Pumpkins will land in the States on October 16 where they’ll play in Denver before moving on to St. Louis, San Francisco, Chicago, and Detroit. Other American cities are said to be in the works, but have not yet been confirmed. Tickets for most shows are on sale now but for a full listing of venues, dates, and pre-sales, you can find them on the Pumpkins’ official website here.
The makeup of the Pumpkins has changed considerably over the years. Billy Corgan who formed the group over two decades ago has come back after a solo career, but he’s the only original member still there. Now in place of Melissa Auf der Maur is Nicole Fiorentino; instead of James Iha you’ll find Jeff Schroeder on rhythm guitar; and now Mike Byrne, not Jimmy Chamberlin, is on drums and percussion.
Having been together for years now though, the current four members have proven they have all the magic that makes the Pumpkins who they are. So get your tickets today!
Christina Aguilera’s New Album to be Most Personal Yet
Two years after dropping “Bionic,” her sixth album that received horrible reviews in 2010, Christina Aguilera has announced that she’s got another one coming. And for fans who are looking for something different, that’s exactly what Xtina plans to bring. She says that the as the as of yet untitled work is a “rebirth” for her.
No title, and not even a hint of a release date, but fans did get a chance to hear the first single, “Your Body” when it was leaked online last week. Most websites have been asked to take it down, as it’s not set for official release until September. But it wasn’t fast enough as YouTube covers and lyrics started popping up, and fans got a taste of this super sexy song that surprisingly, sounds a lot like Christina of past. Remember “Dirrty” and “Tough Lover?”
It’s surprising that the tracks, in lyrical content at least, sound similar, because she says, “This is all sort of a free rebirth for me. I’m embracing many different thing, but it’s all feel-good.” Well, the first single will be, that’s for sure. With maybe the exception of the baseball bat she was seen toting around the set for the video of the new single.
Christina has also said that she’s been through a divorce in the past two years (with two albums, a divorce, and coaching on “The Voice,” we agree!) And all those experiences, and the lessons from them, are going to be poured into the new music. As well as some of the people she’s worked with along the way. Fellow “Voice” coach Cee Lo Green is also reported to appear on the album.
“I’m one that likes to collaborate,” says Christina. “I love feeding off the creative energy, and it only makes me better.”

More great news is that the current tour is with another great band, Motley Crue. That means you get an entire night of rocking music to enjoy, you know the real stuff that was around before, in the words of Simmons, “Girls with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them” took over.
The current tour simply titled “The Tour” started in July, and will be running until nearly the end of September. Once The Tour ends, the band won’t be resting. Instead, they will be taking off around the globe on their next worldwide tour to promote their new album entitled “Monster”. The new album is due out in October 2012 and you can hear the current single “Hell or Hallelujah” by downloading the song for iPod or heading to their website. Taylor Swift Announces New Album via Web Chat
Last week Taylor Swift blasted the cybersphere with messages about how this past Monday, August 13, she was going to have a live web chat. During the chat, fans could connect with her through Google+ Hangout and ask questions. But best of all, Taylor had some big news — and those watching the web chat would be the first to know!
Within seconds of starting the chat, Taylor announced that she had a new album coming out on October 22. Her fourth studio effort, this latest is called “Red” and while it’s similar to her last album, “Speak Now,” there are some major differences too.
Much like all of her past work, this album is about the range of experiences — and the emotions that go with them — that Taylor has experienced over the past two years. Jealousy, love, passion, anger, all of these are just some of those emotions she’s felt and, as Taylor says, there’s “nothing beige” about them and that’s what makes them “so fun to write about.”
But while Taylor’s still singing about her emotions, there is a difference. Unlike “Speak Now,” which she wrote single-handedly, she says that this album is “full of co-writes and co-producers and collaborations” that has allowed her to work with some of her music “heroes.”
Along with the album, Taylor also announced that a tour to promote it is also being planned; although she gave very few details regarding a tour. She did mention that there were a total of 16 tracks on the new album, “not including bonus tracks here and there.”
For the grand finale, Taylor officially premiered her new single, “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which is now available on iTunes and Google Play. To view the video in its entirety, you can find it on YouTube here.
The Beautiful Tragedy That is Norah Jones
Norah Jones won many hearts in 2002 with her Come Away with Me album, not to mention a number of awards like Best New Artist and Album of the Year Grammy Awards. Many fairly successful albums followed, but most of them deemed her performances as “brunch music” or background music for brunches and dinner parties. Perhaps it was thanks to her light sound. Well Norah Jones’ newest release is something different.
Norah is about to hit the scene again in a hard way with her fifth album entitled “Little Broken Hearts” almost exactly ten years after her debut. This album may be a bit unexpected by the singer’s fans, and is sure to get her some attention, not to mention play outside the brunching crowd.
“Little Broken Hearts” hit store shelves and iPods on April 27, 2012. The singer’s amazing voice is still the biggest draw, but she has turned away from the lighter tunes and has really found a brand new, haunting sound. The album is all about the stages of heartbreaks, ending relationships and other anguishes of the heart. Anyone who has been through a bad breakup or has felt real jealousy will connect with this album, and really, who hasn’t? The album has gotten positive reviews overall from critics, and fans are raving. Many believe this to be her best album since her chart-topping debut.
The first single off the album is entitled “Happy Pills” and is about freeing oneself from a relationship, and despite the lyrics, still manages to pull off an upbeat tune. Other notable tracks include the sinister track “Miriam” which is sure to give listeners chills as the old saying “hell hath no fury…” is played out all too well. “Take It Back”, “She’s 22” and “Say Goodbye” are also tracks worth adding to your playlists, though the entire album really is impressive in its entirety.
Dying to hear the new album sung live and in person in Norah’s own sultry voice? The good news is that the singer is back on tour and making stops around the country, including a stop at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival on August 10th. As word spreads and iPods and radios start playing these amazing album, tickets are going to start to sell. Don’t risk a sold out show…buy your tickets early!
